My name is Esther Chuang, a HCPC registered Music Therapist and a certified Neurologic Music Therapist based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I am also a qualified accessor for Music Therapy Assessment Tool for Awareness in Disorders of Consciousness (MATADOC).

Since I graduated from Queen Margaret University in 2019 I have been providing personalised music therapy services for a range of clients including children, adolescents, young people, adults, older adults and the elderly. I have clinical experience in working with people with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs. This includes autism, learning disabilities, brain injuries, hearing and visual impairments, and trauma. I also have experience in working with people living with dementia (such as Alzheimer’s disease), physical disabilities, and mental health needs. In addition, I have experience in giving one-to-one piano and voice lessons to children.

In the past few years I have worked with many individuals and a range of organisations, such as Edinburgh Headway Group, Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre and Care Home (Four Season), Hear My Music (Spectrum Music), St. Mary's RC Primary School and Polbeth Nursery, and Lower Johnshill Care Home (Auchlochan). I also have experience in working with Lauder Lodge (Care UK), Teens+, and Forward Vision at Royal Blind School.

Currently, I work as a freelance music therapist and a community musician. In addition, I run a Singing for Lung Health Group in East Lothian/Musselburgh with The Warblers, and a church musician at with Stockbridge Parish Church. I am also the Scotland Regional Coordinator of British Association For Music Therapy (BAMT).
